Argentina’s crude steel output declines 10.1 percent in February

Argentinian crude steel production in February declined 10.1 percent, year-on-year, but rose 2.8 percent in the month-on-month analysis to 338,800 mt, according to data released on Tuesday by the nation’s steel chamber, CAA.

According to CAA, Argentina’s accumulated steel output from January to February reached 668,300 mt, 12.4 percent down, year-on-year.

The local steel association said hot rolled finished steel output in the second month of the year diminished 31.2 percent, year-on-year, and 31.1 percent, month-on-month, totaling 232,900 mt. As for the two-month period, hot rolled finished steel output fell 19.6 percent, year-on-year, to 570,700 mt.

Argentina’s cold rolled flat steel production in February was stable with a slight 0.3 percent increase, year-on-year, reaching 115,300 mt. When compared to January, cold rolled flat steel output declined 5.5 percent. Accumulated cold rolled flat steel output in the Jan-Feb period totaled 237,400 mt, 16.6 percent up, year-on-year.
