US line pipe still dealing with too much inventory

As with last week, spot market prices for US domestic API X-52 line pipe are still holding in the range of $60-$63 cwt. ($1,323-$1,389/mt or $1,200-$1,260/nt), ex-mill, although deals at the service center level are increasingly prevalent. Mexico import API X-52 line pipe is being sold at the same level, FOB Texas.

Market players continue to express frustration inventory levels, noting “there’s too much inventory out there and service centers are offering crazy prices.” Another source described the current state of the market as being “the hangover brought on by the Trump tariffs.”
