SteelOrbis sources have confirmed that a number of customers have been rushing to place orders with Mexican mills for API X-52 ERW line pipe.

Prices from Mexico continue to hover at $60 cwt. ($1323/mt or $1200/nt), FOB Houston, but there continues to be questions as to whether Mexican mills will raise their prices, because prices from Mexico are still more attractive than what is being offered by US mills.

In terms of domestic pricing, that continues to trend between $60-$65 cwt. ($1323-$1433/mt or $1200-$1300/nt), ex-mill. As with last week, it’s believed that line pipe prices will continue to rise as US HRC prices are still adjusting upward.
