Domestic demand for Turkish welded pipes has remained rather high. Although buyers have started to request some discounts, local producers have kept their offers stable for now. “We find discount requests meaningless at the moment. We have sufficient demand, stocks are low and delivery times have already increased to up to two months. On the other hand, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the country are still strong. We think the uncertainty and fear of a second wave of Covid-19 causes the discount requests, but in these circumstances we do not think of giving any discounts," a pipe producer told SteelOrbis. Prices for welded pipe are at $510-540/mt ex-works in Turkey and, since stock materials have already been sold, the prices are for August delivery.
On the export side, demand is low but prices are unchanged at $500-520/mt FOB. Pipe export prices are aggressive due to high local demand.
** Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
