Over the past week, Turkish producers’ offer range for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to their domestic market have decreased by $20/mt to $580-620/mt ex-works due to the weakness of demand. Although market sources state that some Turkish welded pipe producers are offering further discounts for high-volume bookings, demand has weakened significantly and buyers are unwilling to keep their inventories at high levels due to year-end considerations. While there is no clear outlook for the bottom level of domestic welded pipe prices in Turkey, buyers are still exerting downward pressure on prices due to the ongoing declines in domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices and the increasing price competition in the global market. With Turkey's industrial production decreasing by 2.7 in September this year according to the official data announced today, November 16, it seems that Turkish manufacturing output has slowed down amid currency fluctuations and increasing input costs. In the last quarter of this year, Turkey’s industrial production is expected to continue to slow down in line with the economic contraction in the country. Under these circumstances, demand for domestic welded pipe in Turkey will likely to decrease further.
