Local and export welded pipes in Turkey have decreased by $5/mt over the past week, while demand has remained sluggish.

Buyers prefer to buy only in order to cover for their immediate needs in the local market. Overall, business activity has been very much affected by currency fluctuations and the rather negative outlook regarding the possible consequences of the spread of the coronavirus. Currently, domestic prices are at $525-540/mt ex-works.

On the export side, demand is worse than in the local market due to coronavirus. The fall seen in the stock markets has affected demand negatively and foreign customers are generally cautious regarding purchases as there are many worries regarding in terms of logistics and possible delays. As a result, Turkey’s welded pipe export prices are at $515-525/mt FOB with additional discounts of up to $10/mt available, SteelOrbis understands.

** Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
