Mexican pipe price trends vary

Mexican domestic welded steel pipe prices closed at US$998/mt ex-mill this week, reflecting an increase of US$20/mt from the previous week. Meanwhile, structural steel tubing prices fell US$7/mt over the last week to US$880/mt ex-mill.

According to sources, April was a good month for welded pipe demand, particularly for pipe used in construction. A recent report from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) stated that the construction industry rose 1.2 percent in April, and the US$75 billion investment in infrastructure construction this year will only help lift pipe demand, and hopefully prices as well.
