Mexican pipe price trends again diverge

Mexican domestic welded steel pipe prices closed at US$980/mt ex-mill this week, reflecting a decline of US$18/mt during last two weeks.  Meanwhile, structural steel tubing prices increased by US$7/mt to reach $887/mt ex-mill.

Sources tell SteelOrbis that the announcements last week regarding anti-dumping investigation on tubes from China could influence the behavior of prices in the near term. On the other hand, domestic producers have seemed optimistic about infrastructure investment announcements, but the market might not reflect such optimism, according to construction officials.
