Local Chinese steel pipe prices have followed an upward trend during the past week.

Chinese domestic seamless pipe prices have continued to rise during the past week, supported by rises in prices of billet and other raw materials. Overall trading activity has been weak. Meanwhile, production restrictions have limited seamless pipe supplies, providing support for prices. As for the week ahead, considering the low supply and weak demand, it is believed that seamless pipe prices in China may move up slightly.

Local Chinese welded pipe prices have risen slightly in the past seven days supported by higher steel strip prices and production restrictions. Overall trading activity has improved a little and is at normal levels. Traders have been willing to offer certain discounts in order to close more deals and so the increases in welded pipe prices have been smaller compared to those in raw material prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may fluctuate on an upward trend.
