Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have declined during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak. Prices of billet and other raw materials have been influenced by macroeconomic policy and indicated large declines, causing seamless pipe prices to follow a similar trend. The demand side is in wait-and-see mode, with trading activity at low levels. As for the week ahead, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may continue to decline.
Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have indicated large decreases during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak since the demand side is mostly holding a wait-and-see stance because of high raw material prices. Steel strip prices have fallen sharply amid macroeconomic policy moves to control raw material prices. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices will again decrease.
