Local Chinese pipe prices mostly stable, with some slight downticks

Local Chinese steel pipe prices have mostly indicated a stable trend in the past seven days, though some slight downticks have also been seen.

Local Chinese seamless pipe prices have followed a stable trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has been weak due to the off-season and the cold weather. Upstream billet prices which have followed a fluctuating trend still gives support to seamless pipe prices. Supply volumes of seamless pipes have recently been at low levels since certain producers reduced their production volumes. As for the week ahead, against a backdrop of support from the cost side and the weakness of demand, it is believed that seamless pipe prices may just indicate minor fluctuations.

Chinese domestic welded pipe prices have mostly indicated a stable trend in the past week, with some slight reductions seen in certain local markets. Overall trading activity has been sluggish. Support from upstream steel strip prices is still strong, but weak demand has caused some traders to reduce their quotations slightly. As for the week ahead, it is believed that welded pipe prices may fluctuate on a slightly soft trend.
