Demand for seamless pipes still slack in Iran

The situation remains unfavorable in the Iranian seamless pipe market due to the unstable economic conditions in the country, and lack of demand does not let prices improve. Iranian traders have decreased their seamless pipe offers by a maximum of $90/mt over the past month, depending on sizes. Import offers of Chinese and CIS material have decreased by around $20-50/mt over the same period. However, import volumes have dropped due to problems related to letters of credit. At the moment, market participants prefer to maintain a wait-and-see stance, hoping for better market conditions after the negotiations concerning Iran's nuclear program. However, seamless pipe demand in Iran is unlikely to improve much before September due to seasonal factors.

Local stockists' prices for domestic production seamless pipes of 1"-3" size are at about $1,555-1,940/mt ex-warehouse, declining by $20-90/mt over the past month depending on sizes.

Import offers of Chinese seamless pipes, 2"-6" grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L, are being given to the local Iranian market at $930-1,000/mt CFR Bandar Abbas.

Rus menşeli ASTM A106 standardına uygun 2- 8 inç ebatlı B kalite dikişsiz borular ise İran'ın kuzey limanlarına 1.150-1.200$/mt CFR Anzali aralığında teklif edilmektedir.

Quotations of Ukrainian seamless pipes of 2"-6" size grade B as per ASTM A106 are at about $1,200-1,250/mt CFR Bandar Abbas for June production, while offers of 8"-12" pipes are at $1,250-1,300/mt CFR.

Russian pipes of 2"-8" grade B as per ASTM A106 are being offered to northern Iranian ports at $1,100-1,150/mt CFR Anzali.
