Over the past week, ex-Turkey welded pipe prices have continued to move upwards, supported by the rises in domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Turkish market. In this context, Turkish producers’ offer range for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from hot rolled coil (HRC) of S235 grade as per EN 10219 to the export markets has increased by $10/mt on the upper end to $600-640/mt FOB.
According to market sources, demand for Turkish welded pipe in the export markets is at decent levels, while Turkish suppliers are continuing their sales. Meanwhile, some Turkish welded pipe exporters have attempted to increase their prices by a further $10-20/mt, though they have had difficulties in getting European buyers to accept the higher price levels. As a result, the exporters in question have had to conclude deals below their desired price levels.
Meanwhile, Canada has announced the final results of its antidumping (AD) investigation into carbon steel welded pipe imports originating in four countries, including Turkey. Accordingly, the AD duty to be imposed on Turkish welded pipe by Canada is in the range of 0.6-45.8 percent, depending on the producer.
In the coming weeks, demand for HRC in Turkey is expected to impact domestic HRC prices in the country and the trend of domestic HRC prices will continue to play a role in shaping Turkish welded pipe export quotations.
