During the week ending August 14, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved on a stable trend. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $625-710/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $540-560/mt FOB, October shipment.

In the first part of the given week, ferrous metal futures prices have moved down sharply, negatively affecting steel pipe market. Later in the given week, ferrous metal futures prices have seen a rebounding trend, exerting a positive impact on market participants’ confidence and boosting steel pipe prices. Due to typhoon Lekima, rainy weather continued in eastern China, slackening the demand for steel pipe. However, the inventory level in steel pipe market has been at comparatively low level. It is expected that steel pipe prices from China will likely fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
