During the given week, steel pipe prices have fluctuated within a limited range amid the rising trend of ferrous metal futures prices and the production cuts on the steelmakers’ side. The inventory of steel pipe has risen, reflecting slack demand from downstream users, which will negatively affect prices. It is thought that steel pipe prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week.
Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 4,350/mt ($683/mt) on December 8, up by RMB 44/mt ($6.9/mt), or 1.02 percent compared to December 1, while down 2.0 percent compared to the previous trading day, December 7.
