During the week ending January 9, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have mostly indicated a stable trend. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $610-700/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $510-550/mt FOB.

Following the New Year holiday, steel futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) have increased, exerting a positive impact on the Chinese domestic steel pipe market, and thereby also providing support for steel pipe export prices from China. However, since the Chinese New Year holiday (February 2-10) is approaching, traders have been unwilling to build up stocks of steel pipe. It is expected that steel pipe export prices from China will likely move sideways in the coming week.
