Chinese seamless pipe export prices decline, welded pipe prices stable

During the week ending May 22, average Chinese seamless pipe export offer prices have declined, while welded pipe export offer prices have moved sideways. At present, export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $620-710/mt FOB, while export offers for API 5L welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $560-575/mt FOB.

In the given week, demand from downstream users for Chinese steel pipe has not shown any improvement, resulting in slow trading activity. Market participants are pessimistic on the prospects for the future trend of steel pipe prices. The negative impact of the trade frictions between the US and China has also contributed to the decreases in steel pipe prices. It is expected that steel pipe export prices from China will move down slightly in the coming week.
