During the week ending April 28, average Chinese steel pipe export offer prices have moved up. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $770-800/mt FOB, moving up by $10/mt week on week, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $850-950/mt FOB, July shipment, edging up by $15/mt compared to April 21.

During the given week, coke prices have seen another round of rises, bolstering steel pipe prices from the cost side. Meanwhile, bullish sentiments have prevailed among market players as good demand is expected in May. At the same time, ferrous metal futures prices have been moving on an increasing trend, providing support for steel pipe prices.
Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,358/mt ($826/mt) on April 28, up RMB 170/mt ($28/mt) or 3.28 percent from April 21.
