On April 11, SteelOrbis reported import met coke (64-65 percent CSR) offers to India softening to $335-350/mt CFR India as Chinese domestic prices weakened and Indian buyers were hesitant to close deals on possible further price declines.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that Chinese met coke offers for the grade are approximately $305-315/mt FOB China and $290-300/mt FOB China on 62 percent CSR grade.

Indian buyers are reportedly bidding at approximately $300-305/mt FOB China basis or approximately $315-325/mt CFR basis. Met coke offers to India are reportedly stable at $335-350/mt CFR. A source noted that due to some forthcoming production tightness in the Shanxi region due to pollution policies, ex-China export prices are expected to remain firm or even increase, but another consideration is the recent decline in coking coal prices that could support some increase in domestic coke production in India.
