On May 17, major Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel published new ex-mill prices for certain products, effective from May 20 to May 31. The details are as follows:
1. The producer has reduced its rebar prices by RMB 500/mt ($73/mt). As a result, its price of 14-25 mm HRB 335 rebar now stands at RMB 3,900/mt ($572/mt).
2. The price of common carbon medium plate produced by the steelmaker's heavy plate production line has been cut by RMB 500/mt. Thus, the new price for 6.5 mm Q235 common carbon medium plate is RMB 3,900/mt ($572/mt).
3. The price of deformed bar in coils has decreased by RMB 150/mt ($22/mt), with the current price of 8 mm HRB 400 deformed bar in coil at RMB 4,050/mt ($594/mt).
The above ex-mill prices include 17 percent VAT.
