Brazil exported 34,200 mt of wire rod in September, 8.4 percent less than in August, according to the country’s ministry of foreign trade, industry and services, MDIC.
The average price points to the mesh grade product exported at $475/mt, while the drawing grade was exported at $549/mt, both FOB conditions.
ArcelorMittal was the top exporter, 29,800 mt at an average price (for both grades) of $531/mt, while Gerdau exported 4,400 mt at an average of $545/mt. The main destinations were the US (17,000 mt at an average of $584/mt), South America (8,800 mt at an average of $485/mt) and the EU (7,400 mt at an average of $468/mt), all FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in July.
A local exporter told SteelOrbis that wire rod of the mesh grade is currently negotiated for export at $650/mt, FOB conditions.
