Transaction activity still lackluster in local Chinese plate market

During the week ending July 14, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have indicated a slight downtrend, while transaction activity has remained slack. Average steel plate prices in China can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, demand for steel plate from downstream industries has continued to be sluggish, while traders have been willing to sell plate at lower prices. However, inventory levels in the steel plate market are not at high levels, while steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market are already considered to be low. In the short term, steel plate prices are unlikely to move down significantly, while at the same time it is also difficult for prices to increase given the slack demand situation. It is expected that steel plate prices in China will just indicate minor fluctuations in the coming week.
