Market players look forward to seeing whether steel plate demand in Turkey, which remained limited prior to the general election on June 12, will show any improvement in the post-election period.

In the current month, Ukrainian steelmaker Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk) has not given any steel plate offers to Turkey, since it has already filled its order book for its reduced steel plate output, while it has increased its slab sales. The producer' steel plate offers to Turkey were at $790/mt CFR last month.

In the meantime, SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that steel plate offers to Turkey from another Ukrainian producer Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (Ilyich) stand at $790-800/mt CFR, for July rolling.

Macedonian mill Makstil's steel plate offers given to Turkey have increased over the previous month to $950-960/mt CFR, while Bulgarian steel producer Stomana is expected to issue its new steel plate export offers. Last month, Stomana's steel plate offers to Turkey were at €590/mt ($853/mt) CFR.

Finally, SteelOrbis has been informed that Turkish integrated steel producer Erdemir is offering steel plate to the local market at $820/mt ex-works.
