A source from a producer in Brazil told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of Galvalume remains at $850/mt, FOB conditions for the AZ-150 product, roughly the same over five weeks.

According to the source, exports of Galvalume are not a focus for steel producers, as reduced production has shifted focus to sales in the domestic market, where prices could reach the equivalent to $1,000/mt FOB, depending on the volume involved.

In July, brazil exported 500 mt of Galvalume, while importing 20,300 mt of the product.

ArcelorMittal and CSN are the two companies authorized by BIEC to produce Galvalume in Brazil, both having blast furnaces currently idled for revamping. Under normal market conditions, the combined Galvalume production of ArcelorMittal and CSN is not sufficient to feed the domestic demand.
