Brazilian HDG export prices decline

The reference price of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG), for export from Brazil to South American countries is $950/mt today, against $1,000/mt four weeks ago, CFR conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75 mm thickness product as reference.

In March, Brazil exported 17,500 mt and imported 51,400 mt of HDG, against respectively 36,900 mt and 50,800 mt in February.

The destinations of the exports in March were South American countries (13,100 mt at $1,433/mt), and the US (4,400 mt at $1,007/mt), FOB conditions. The exporters were Usiminas (12,500 mt at $1,295/mt), ArcelorMittal (4,800 mt at $1,384/mt), and CSN (200 mt at $2,180/mt), FOB.

The imports were from Asia (51,100 mt, of which 49,300 mt at $679/mt from China), and Europe (300 mt at $1,458/mt), also FOB conditions.

In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by producers, in medium to large volumes, to end users or distributors, at BRL 6,250/mt ($1,197/mt), stable from four weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included.
