Reference price for Brazilian slab exports declines sharply

Saturday, 01 March 2025 19:54:44 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

The Brazilian slab exporters are negotiating deals with $505/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, as a reference.

This price compares to $535/mt one week ago, under the same conditions.

Before this week’s decline, the reference price stood in a range of $530/mt to $540/mt since August 5, 2024.

It is not clear if this price refers to deals closed at two different prices, for exports to the US, paying or not paying the 25 percent import tariff.

The last figures available now show Brazilian slab exports in February could be lower than the 586,900 mt exported in January.
