Brazilian slab exporters are negotiating deals at $510/mt, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades, stable over the last two weeks.
The price remains following the trend of HRC prices in the US market, now considered as the primary determinant in the pricing of Brazilian slab export agreements to all countries.
The confirmed figures for Brazilian slab exports in April reveal that the preliminary data, which suggested a significant increase from March, were inaccurate.
In April, Brazil exported 429,600 mt of slabs against 661,600 mt in March.
Ternium exported 144,400 mt at $545/mt to the US, ArcelorMittal Pecem exported 110,800 mt at $526/mt to the US and 22,600 mt at $545/mt to the UK, ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 101,900 mt at $527/mt to the US, and Gerdau exported 49,900 mt at $498/mt to the US, all FOB conditions.
Brazil did not import slabs in April.
