Brazilian slab exporters are negotiating deals at an average of $482/mt FOB for basic commercial grades, the same as last week.

Sources mentioned that recent deals were closed at $470-$480/mt, influenced by prices for US customers and affecting deals for other destinations as well.

In May, Brazil exported 577,900 mt of slabs an average of $533/mt, while importing 70,500 mt of the product at an average of $446/mt, both FOB.

Preliminary indications for June show an increase in slab exports from May at an average price of $537/mt. This price was negotiated in April under FOB conditions and includes quality extras. No significant volume of slab imports has cleared customs in Brazilian ports during the first three weeks of June.
