The current reference price for Brazilian slab exports stands at $600 per metric ton (mt), up from $590/mt last week, under FOB terms for basic commercial grades.

Prices remain at levels last observed in May 2024, continuing an upward trend that began when prices were at $455/mt in October 2025, now marking the longest period in uptrend in recent years.

Considering the depreciation of the US Dollar against the Brazilian Real (BRL), and the disruptions of maritime transportation caused by the conflict in the Middle East, as opposed to the regularity of transportation from Brazil to the US, Europe and Asia, analysts maintain expectations of continued small increases of the Brazilian slab export prices along the next weeks.

Data from Secex, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat within the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, remain pointing to total slab export volumes for March lower than February’s 794,200 mt.
