Brazilian slab export price stable in one week

Brazilian slab exporters remain negotiating deals in average of $470/mt, unchanged over the last two weeks, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades.

The relative stability, with a variation of $5/mt during July, reflects the assumption by players that the recently imposed 50 percent import tariff for all US imports from Brazil will not be added to the existing 50 percent tariff on all steel products imported by the US.

An estimated 85 percent of the slabs exported from Brazil during the first semester of 2025 was destined to the US.

In July, the Brazilian slabs exports are expected to have reached a volume similar to the 751,000 mt exported in June, with an indication of an average FOB price of $540/mt, in this case including quality extras.
