Brazilian slab exporters are negotiating deals at an average of $482/mt FOB, for basic commercial grades, down from $485/mt last week.
According to sources, this small decline reflects the impact of the increased import tariffs on steel products in the US, which continues to affect the price of Brazilian slabs in other markets.
In May, Brazil exported an average of $533/mt of slabs, while importing an average of $446/mt of the product, both FOB conditions
Preliminary indications for June show an increase in slab exports from May at an average price of $457/mt. This price was negotiated in April under FOB conditions and includes quality extras. No significant volume of slab imports has cleared customs in Brazilian ports.
