Ex-Brazil slab prices decrease slightly from last week

Brazilian slab exporters are negotiating deals at an average of $475/mt FOB for basic commercial grades, compared to $482/mt FOB last week.

This minor decline remains within the $470-$480 range, consistent with last week’s prices. It reflects ongoing negotiations with clients in the US, which are affected by the current 25 percent import tariffs.

Before the tariffs were imposed by the US, Brazilian slab export prices ranged from $530/mt to $540/mt from August 2024 to March 2025.

Preliminary indications now suggest that Brazilian slab exports in June may increase from the 577,900 mt exported in May.
