Mexican HRC prices increased $9/mt ex-mill to reach to $431/mt ex-mill during the last two weeks.

Sources say the increase is mainly attributed to the international market trend, but the import situation in Mexico is also having an effect. Last week, Mexico extended the definitive countervailing duties for HRC imports from Russia and Ukraine, of 21 percent and 25 percent respectively.

Prices of HRC from Russia and Ukraine in the market could undercut domestic prices up to 16 percent, which would impact domestic prices negatively and increase demand for imported volumes.
