A Brazilian exporter told SteelOrbis that Galvalume export deals are now being negotiated in a range of $820/mt to $860/mt, FOB conditions, $20/mt higher in average than the range negotiated two weeks ago.

According to the source, producers are giving preference to the increased demand from the domestic market, where prices are more rewarding.

“There is an increased demand from most domestic industrial sectors, so Galvalume exports are opportunistic now,” he said, adding that a small volume was recently sold to a South American country.

Galvalume domestic prices in Brazil consistently exceed $1,000/mt, ex-works, full taxes except IPI.

In July, Brazil exported an irrelevant volume of Galvalume, while importing 26,000 mt of the product from China at $730/mt, FOB conditions.
