SteelOrbis has learned that demand has remained slack in the Portuguese flat steel market, while import offers have softened in the current week. Accordingly, an Italian producer's flat steel offers to Portugal have decreased by €15/mt ($18/mt). Meanwhile, Portuguese steelmaker Lusosider's domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) offers have indicated a decline of €5-10/mt ($6-12/mt), while other flat steel prices have followed a sideways trend.

In the Portuguese flat steel market, prices of hot rolled sheet (HRS) are still standing at €590-600/mt ($726-738/mt) ex-warehouse, late August output hot rolled coil (HRC) base prices are at €515-520/mt ($633-640/mt), while local producer Lusosider's domestic offers for August rolling HDG coil are at the level of €595-600/mt ($732-738/mt) ex-works.

In the meantime, in Italy's late August production flat steel offers to Portugal, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices are at the base price level of €500-505/mt ($615-621/mt) and HDG prices are at €565-570/mt ($695-701/mt) base price level.
