A source linked to a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) to the US is currently $920/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference. The reference price is the same over the last two weeks.
In January, Brazil exported 69,400 mt of HDG, in average at $901/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in November.
The main destinations were the US (48,200 mt at $957/mt) and Argentina (15,400 mt at $908/mt), while the exporters were Usiminas (43,500 mt), CSN (17,700 mt) and ArcelorMittal (8,200 mt).
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is sold today by distributors, in small volumes, at BRL 5,050/mt ($1,350/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference, stable in BRL over two weeks ago. Larger volumes or direct sales by steel producers are usually entitled to discounts.
In January, Brazil imported 30,500 mt of HDG from China at $742/mt, 1,700 mt from Belgium at $949/mt and 1,300 mt from France at $860/mt, all FOB conditions, with price variances ascribed to different sizes, grades, and tonnage levels.
The last offer of HDG received by a Brazilian importer from China was priced at $710/mt, CFR conditions to a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, with the Z100/SGCC grade as reference, stable from two weeks ago.
