A source linked to a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) to the US remains at $920/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference. The price has remained stable for the last two months.
A second source, also linked to a producer, mentioned that $850/mt, FOB conditions, is also stable for exports to destinations other than the US.
In March, ArcelorMittal exported 1,800 mt of HDG at $796/mt, FOB conditions and destined to Argentina.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in March 30,200 mt of HDG, of which 23,500 mt from China at $713/mt, 5,500 mt from South Korea at $810/mt, 700 mt from the EU at $923/mt, and 500 mt from Taiwan at $906/mt, all FOB conditions, with varying prices ascribed to different grades and tonnage levels.
The last offer of HDG received by a Brazilian importer from China was priced at $730/mt, against $700/mt two weeks ago, CFR conditions to a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, with the Z100/SGCC grade as reference.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is sold today by distributors, in small volumes, at BRL 5,050/mt ($1,300/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference, stable in BRL over two months. Larger volumes or direct sales by steel producers are usually entitled to discounts.
