A source linked to a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) to the US remains at $920/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference, the same price for six weeks.
A second source, also linked to a producer, mentioned that $850/mt, FOB conditions, is also stable for exports to destinations other than the US.
In February, CSN exported 21,000 mt of HDG at $$931/mt, while Usiminas exported 8,900 mt at $936/mt, both FOB conditions with price deals probably closed in December. The main destinations were the US (20,800 mt at $932/mt) and Argentina (8,900 mt at $936/mt), both FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is sold today by distributors, in small volumes, at BRL 5,050/mt ($1,323/mt), stable in BRL over six weeks, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference. Larger volumes or direct sales by steel producers are usually entitled to discounts.
In February, Brazil imported 31,400 mt of HDG, of which 28,000 mt from China at $716/mt, 2,507 mt from South Korea at $879/mt, and 400 mt from Taiwan at $919/mt, all FOB conditions.
The last offer of HDG received by a Brazilian importer from China was priced at $700/mt, against $710/mt two weeks ago, CFR conditions to a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, with the Z100/SGCC grade as reference.
