Mainstream ex-China steel plate offer prices from mills have been heard at $610/mt FOB for December shipment as of today, Monday, October 10, down by $10/mt compared to September 26. Reference deal prices have been heard at $600/mt FOB to South America and Southeast Asia versus $610-615/mt FOB two weeks ago.
After the holiday, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have moved up amid bullish sentiments following the long holiday. However, transaction activities have not improved significantly yet. Demand for steel plates is expected to see some improvement in the near future. It is thought that plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
Average Q235 20 mm steel plate spot prices in China have gained RMB 10/mt ($1.4/mt) compared to September 26, standing at RMB 4,156/mt ($585/mt) ex-warehouse, according to SteelOrbis’ information.
As of October 10, HRC futures at the Shanghai Futures Exchange are standing at RMB 3,886/mt ($547/mt), rising by RMB 71/mt ($10/mt) or 1.9 percent since September 26.
