During the week ending August 25, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have continued to indicate a slight downtrend, while transaction activity has remained at low levels. Average steel plate prices in China can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

Steel plate traders in the Chinese domestic market are mostly pessimistic as steel futures prices have continued to move down and as demand has not shown any significant improvement. Traders have lowered their prices in order to stimulate sales activity, while downstream users have been unwilling to conclude purchases. With demand unlikely to indicate any big changes in the short run and with steelmakers cutting their ex-works prices, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market are expected to continue their slight downward movement in the coming week.
