This week in the Turkish plate market, where demand has long been stagnant, the downtrend of import plate prices has come to an end following the successive decreases seen in previous weeks. Meanwhile, market players believe that prices will follow a sideways trend for a while and that plate demand in the Turkish domestic market will likely remain low until demand in the European markets gains strength.

Currently, steel plate offers to Turkey given by Ukrainian steel producer Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works are still standing at $560/mt CFR, while another Ukrainian mill Ilyich Iron & Steel Works is offering plate to Turkey at the base price level of $555-560/mt CFR. In addition, Macedonian mill Makstil's offers are still standing at $740/mt CFR. All the prices are for December output.
