Current import offer prices for CRC in Brazil are reportedly at $645/mt, CFR, no taxes included, for the SAE 1008 grade, up from import offers of $635/mt, same conditions, one month ago.
Brazil imported 26,500 mt of CRC in March, against 4,200 mt in February, according to the country’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC.
Asia was the main origin, 25,900 mt, of which 25,600 mt from China at $630/mt, while 600 mt at $812/mt was imported from the EU, both FOB conditions.
CRC imports in March include 6,000 mt at $606/mt shipped from China to a trader in the northeastern state of Piaui, reflecting the logistics hurdles to move steel from Brazilian producers in the southeast and clients in the north and northeast, usually made by truck due to the lack of availability of ocean transportation.
Meanwhile, Brazil exported 34,400 mt of CRC in March, against 12,500 mt in February. The main destinations were the EU (31,700 mt at $609/mt) and South America (2,700 mt at $788/mt), both FOB conditions with price deals probably closed in January.
