In the past week, average export offer prices of Chinese flat steel first increased but then softened in the latter part of the week, though average prices still indicate increases compared to one week ago. At present, export offers for boron-added 5.75 mm hot rolled coil (HRC) given by Chinese suppliers are at $470-480/mt FOB, while export offers for 1.0 mm cold rolled coil (CRC) given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $530-540/mt FOB.
In the past four days, due to the downtrend seen in ferrous metal futures prices in China, export offer prices for flat steel from China have indicated downward corrections. These decreases in Chinese flat steel export offer prices also constitute corrections following previous sharp increases in prices. It is thought that export offer prices for flat steel from China will unlikely fall significantly in the coming week as steelmakers' production costs will provide support for prices.
