During the week ending December 17, average prices of steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have moved sideways, with some slight fluctuations, while transaction activity in the overall steel plate market has been at low levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the table below.
During the given week, the domestic steel plate market in China has received support from news of production cuts in some regions and also from the rises seen in ferrous metal futures prices in the latter part of the given week. However, demand from downstream users has remained slack. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
