During the week ending August 13, average prices of steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have continued to increase. Transaction activity in the overall steel plate market has been at medium levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the table below.
During the given week, ferrous metal futures prices have moved up, exerting a positive impact on steel plate prices in spot market. Meanwhile, there were insufficient resources in spot market, bolstering steel plate prices. Moreover, steelmakers have increased their ex-works prices for steel plate, providing certain support to steel plate prices from cost side. It is expected that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will edge up in the coming week.
