During the week ending July 25, average prices of steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have indicated an overall downtrend, while transaction activity in the overall market has been at decent levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the tables below.
In the early part of the given week, due to the declines seen in ferrous metal futures prices in China, domestic steel plate prices softened, while in the latter part of the week futures prices have rebounded, providing support for upward movement in steel plate prices, though average steel plate prices are still lower compared to one week ago. In northern China, heavy rains have resulted in floods in many places, exerting a negative impact on the circulation of supplies. Meanwhile, the G20 summit will be held in Hangzhou on September 4-5, with some steel producers receiving notices regarding environmental protection examinations and so it is thought there will likely be some impact on local production levels. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week.
