During the week ending August 8, average prices of steel plate in the Chinese domestic market have continued to indicate an upward trend, while transaction activity in the overall market has improved a little but is still at low levels. Average steel plate prices in China are presented in the table below.
During the given week, demand for steel plate in China from downstream users has improved compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, ferrous metal futures prices in China have increased sharply, providing support for steel plate prices. Currently, supply of steel plate from steelmakers has returned to normal levels and so sufficient supplies are arriving in the market. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely edge up in the coming week.
