A source from a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) to the US is currently $960/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference. The reference price is stable over the last two weeks.
In November, Usiminas exported 10,200 mt of HDG, in average at $934/mt, CSN exported 7,700 mt at $1,034/mt, and ArcelorMittal exported 2,100 mt at $804/mt, all FOB conditions and price deals probably closed in September. The main destinations were Argentina (12,400 mt at $912/mt) and the US (7,600 mt at $1,035/mt), FOB conditions, while smaller tonnages were shipped to Uruguay, Mexico and Paraguay.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is sold today by distributors, in small volumes, at BRL 5,250/mt ($1,355/mt), against BRL 5,350/mt two weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference. Larger volumes or direct sales by steel producers are usually entitled to discounts.
In November, Brazil imported 34,200 mt of HDG from China at $745/mt, 1,700 mt from South Korea at $879/mt and 1,200 mt from Hungary at $982/mt, all FOB conditions.
The last offer of HDG received by a Brazilian importer from China was priced at $700/mt, against $775/mt two weeks ago, CFR conditions to a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, with the Z100/SGCC grade as reference.
