Brazilian imports of CRC reached 38,800 mt in September, against 7,000 mt in August, according to the country’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC.

The recovery was expected by the market, with sources citing postponements to September of volumes originally scheduled to clear customs in August.

The average FOB price in September declined by 11 percent to $540/mt, with 36,600 mt imported from China at $529/mt, 1,200 mt from South Korea at $706/mt, 600 mt from Taiwan at $615/mt and 300 mt from the EU at $894/mt, all FOB conditions with price deals probably closed in July.

The most recent offers received from China by Brazilian importers are reportedly in the range of $590/mt, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades, against $610/mt one month ago.

In the Brazilian domestic market, CRC is currently sold by distributors at BRL 4,500/mt ($1,406/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, with the 1008 grade as reference.
