Chinese steelmaking giant Baosteel has issued its flat steel prices for shipment in the month of March. The details are as follows (comparisons being with prices for February):
1. Prices of hot rolled steel products produced by Baosteel's main production base and by its stainless steel division are up by RMB 300/mt ($45/mt).
2. Prices of pickled products produced by Baosteel's main production base and by its stainless steel division have increased by RMB 200/mt ($30/mt).
3. Common carbon cold rolled products:
1) Products produced by Baosteel's main production base:
a. Prices of commercial quality (CQ) non-automotive varieties of steel are up by RMB 260/mt ($39/mt), while prices of other products are up by RMB 300/mt ($45/mt). After the adjustment, the price of commercial quality non-automotive 1.0 mm cold rolled coil is RMB 5,896/mt ($894/mt).
b. Prices of single pipe, double pipe and flux cored welding wire in March and April are up by RMB 500/mt ($75/mt), compared to the price level in January and February.
2) Prices of common carbon cold rolled products produced by Baosteel's stainless steel division are RMB 100/mt ($15/mt) lower than the prices of such products produced at Baosteel's main production base.
3) Prices of products from Baosteel subsidiary Meishan Steel are RMB 200/mt ($30/mt) lower compared to prices from Baosteel's main production base.
4. Hot dip galvanized
a. Commercial quality S series structural steel and pickled hot rolled basic hot dip galvanized from Baosteel's main production base are up by RMB 260 /mt ($39/mt) and RMB 360/mt ($55/mt) respectively, while prices of other products have increased by RMB 300/mt ($45/mt). The new price of 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm DC51D+Z hot dip galvanized is at RMB 5,647/mt ($857/mt), while the price of 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm DC53D+Z hot dip galvanized stands at RMB 6,897/mt ($1,047/mt).
b. Prices of products produced by Meishan Steel are up by RMB 260/mt ($39/mt).
c. Prices of common carbon HDG products produced by Baosteel's stainless steel department are RMB 100/mt ($15/mt) lower compared to prices from the main production base.
5. Electric galvanized (EG)
Prices of CQ electric galvanized (EG) are up by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt), while prices of drawing quality (DQ) and deep drawing quality (DDQ) products have increased by RMB 250/mt ($37/mt). The current price of 1.0 mm x 1,250 mm SECC is RMB 7,167/mt ($1,088/mt).
6. Galvalume
a. Prices of products produced by Baosteel's main production base are up by RMB 260/mt ($39/mt).
b. Prices of products produced by Meishan Steel are RMB 50/mt ($7/mt) lower than the prices from Baosteel's main production base.
7. Prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in March and April are up by RMB 200/mt ($30/mt) based on the prices in January and February.
8. Electrical Steel
a. Prices of B50A800 and B65A800 non-grain-oriented (NGO) electrical steel have increased by RMB 100/mt ($15/mt); meanwhile, prices of other products are up by RMB 200/mt ($30/mt), except for the prices of B35A which are up by RMB 300/mt ($45/mt).
b. Prices of grain-oriented (GO) electrical steel have gone up by RMB 600/mt ($91/mt).
9. Heavy plate
a. Prices of shipbuilding plate have risen by RMB 160/mt ($24/mt).
b. Prices of energy and structural steel have gone up by RMB 300/mt ($45/mt).
The above price adjustments are effective from February 15. The prices are on ex-works basis and do not include 17 percent VAT.
